„Народно предање о имену села: У народу Поребрица и данас живи легенда из времена турске окупације, према којој је име села настало од речи Поре (тело) и Брице (бријач/бритва). Прича се да је у селу постојао храбри српски берберин (брица) који је, уместо да их брије, користио своју бритву да посече турске војнике чим би сели у његову столицу. На тај начин је, према предању, село очишћено од турске војске, чиме се објашњава зашто је ово место кроз историју остало чисто српско насеље.”
